“ON THE TRAIL OF THE MAN WHO INVENTED BRAZIL”

Letteraltura chooses the park of the Grand Hotel Majestic

“On the trail of the man who invented Brazil” is the theme of this gathering hosted in the park of the Grand Hotel Majestic on Friday June 26, as part of the successful cultural event Letteraltura, now in its ninth edition.
Many have chosen to attend the event and listen to the thirty years of pilgrimages and gatherings of the author Paolo Brovelli, who is credited with geographical adventures in four continents, travel photos and articles, and two books, again about travel: “Sulle Ali di un Ape”(On the Wings of a Bee - Corbaccio, 2007) and “In viaggio con l’infame” (Traveling with the Infamous - Corbaccio, 2014). Alongside Paolo Brovelli is the journalist Marco Berchi, previous chief editor of Qui Touring and of Speciale Qui Touring, who filled the role of Central Director of Studies, Research and Periodicals of the Italian Touring Club and who today writes about travel and culture for Repubblica, Avvenire and Credere.
The hotel’s park was at its best during a splendid early summer evening, offering the Borromeo Gulf and the San Giovanni islet as a background framed by a splendid sunset. It was even consistent with Brovelli’s tales, who spoke of his travels on waterways, in addition to the large rivers and lakes of South America. Whether aboard a truck, a bus or a wooden boat, the writer-traveler Paolo Brovelli retraced the journey undertaken by the explorer Antonio Raposo Tavares in the mid 1600’s. A two-month trip which condenses the ten thousand kilometers that the Portuguese explorer traveled in three years, along the rivers of the Amazon, in the Bolivian marshes and among the splendors and miseries of today’s Brazil.
