In Verbania the events are green!

The future of conventions is already here at the Grand Hotel Majestic

An exceptional location with breathtaking scenery and eco-friendly conventions: these are the key elements of a successful event

In exactly these days in Paris, the 21st UN Climate Conference will take place where thousands of delegates and observers from all over the world will participate in reaching an international agreement to stop global warming.
Although a common strategy is at the foundation of change, it is also true that the diligence of each single country goes well beyond the signing of this agreement and we cannot forgot this fundamental role hidden by various local realities.
If we look at Italy, for example, we can proudly assert that Verbania and its communities,
has always been distinguished by its green agenda and its adoption of sustainable practices.
In fact, if Verbania has been ranked number one for quite some time in the annual report on Urban Ecosystems, released by the Legambiente foundation in collaboration with the newspaper Il Sole 24Ore on the viability of the province’s cities, it is without a doubt due to the work of every single business to improve the quality of life for fellow citizens and visitors to the area.
In recent years, these actions have gained strength in organizations affiliated with various public and private businesses with the intention of uniting forces and optimising results.
Thus, the Lago Maggiore Conference, a Convention Bureau founded to promote Lake Maggiore as a convention destination of excellence, has initiated the Lago Maggiore Green Meeting project, with the fundamental mission of promoting events and conventions that have a low environmental impact.
Every participating business must be forward-looking and go beyond the mere organization of events to contribute to development of an integrated system of offers for conventions, inspired by the values of sustainability.
Considering that any progress made in this field is never sufficient, and that the margins of improvement are great, in 2014 we saw the creation of the “Save the food” project with the aim of reducing food waste during conventions through the use of products known as “km 0” and collaboration with local producers to take into consideration the food needed for each guest and to recuperate leftovers after meals.
Without a doubt, one of the leaders of this project is the Grand Hotel Majestic, an existing partner of Legambiente and great supporter of environmental causes, who has been active for years in reducing energy use and emissions whilst promoting the values, and the natural, artistic and cultural gems this area has to offer. This has been the reasons according to which, many companies as for example Kimberly-Clark and ISE - the institute for the study of the ecosystems, have already chosen the Grand Hotel Majestic as location for their business events.
In fact, our Events Manager Marco De Marco, reaffirmed during the convention titled “Responsible Tourism and Promotion of Local Territory in the Green Sector” that receptive businesses can reduce their impact on the environment up to 90% and this must be acted upon involving everyone from management to the entire staff, who must be made aware given that, “Our business is closely tied to nature, in which we are immersed, and without which we would be nothing”.
